This Winter Pay a Visit to Charmey

If winter is your focus then you’ll find all kinds of activities n offer all over the country. One of the finests areas for a relaxing vacations is Charmey. The tiny village is located in the heart of the Gruyère region which, up until now, has been known mainly for its cheese. These days tourist in the main industry, and with good reason!

The Gruyère baths are one of the area’s main attractions. The baths have two large swimming pools – one indoor and one outside – which, depending on the season, will reach a heat of 32-33ºC. The water is rich is mineral salts and will be the perfect end to a day exploring the region.

When you’re in Switzerland in the winter you can’t not enjoy the snow! Charmey has a range of winter activities on offer from skiing (take the cable-car up to the Vounetse for access to six lifts), a snowpark, slegding, snow-shoing, cross-country skiing and even ice skating!

If you’re looking for a few activities off of the slopes then check out Bulle, a little town in the centre of the Gruyère where you can visit the Gruyère Museum of Heritage and Customs. Or make a stop in Cailler in Broc for Switzerland’s first chocolate factor which was started in 1898.
