Outdoor Activities in Nottingham

Looking for something different to do in Nottingham? Check out our guide to some of the best outdoor activities to do in the city below.

There are so many fun activities that you could choose from to break away from the usual fun activities that you have been doing for a long time. I’m not a rural type of person because the city life excites me a lot but in all fairness to this town, it definitely surprised me on how lovely and exciting it is to be out there with the trees and other forms of nature.

One of the coolest things that you could enjoy here is horse back riding! Get to be an equestrian for a day and feel the wind on your skin. I may be a city girl but I can never pass up on the experience on riding a gentle beast that could take me to some quiet lanes. Don’t worry if this is going to be your first time to do this because you will be given full instructions and guidance for this activity.

There are rules that you must follow such as not taking the horse on a footpath if you don’t want to get in trouble with the law. It’s a must that you stay on those marked bridleways and byways to maximize the fun that you are going to have.

The next activity that I highly recommend is to visit the Dukeries. If you want to be cultured on English royalties and noble clans, then it’s a must that you see this place. Calm yourself by walking on the longest avenue of Lime Trees in this continent and marvel on this massive 87 acre winding lake with a superb view of a gothic inspired revival chapel. Load your camera memory cards or classic films to photograph these things that are absolutely worthy of your time and awe.

Next I want to make a shout out to all ye nature lovers! Nottinghamshire has many farm parks and nature reserved area that you could explore with your friends or family. The Sherwood Forest Nature Reserve is just one of those that will leave you astounded, relax, calm, and definitely intrigued. All these adjectives and more for one forest must mean something.  You can go cycling or do some running here because of the fresh air that your lungs will surely love.

Another place to explore Nottinghamshire is the Attenborough Nature Centre, which is handled and owned by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. It is well reserved for many people to enjoy the many things that Mother Nature can offer through this location.

Now are you one of those who have always been fascinated on the idea of time machine and ever wished how you could go back in time just to get a feel on how was it to live in the olden times? Well, say no more because coming to the Rufford Abbey is just the “Time Machine” that you need. Visiting here is so much fun because you will be entertained by their people wearing period costumes; acting all ancient and amusing just like how people did it in the medieval years!

Encounter some feisty Norman warriors and witness a clever Regency handle some vintage gun with style and finesse all in one day! And not only that, if you’re a guy looking for a date, then maybe some Victorian maidens would fancy you as you chat with them about how you love Shakespeare so dearly.

I can guarantee you that this trip will be a memorable one that you would even want to go back to make more memories in this place. There are countless numbers of activities that you could still do here and that I will leave for you to check them out!
