Get Away and Start the New Year in Style

Why not celebrate the New Year in style and spend it in another city in the UK? There are loads of really interesting places that would make the perfect excuse for a weekend away, and it’s not too late to book – in fact, more often than not last minute deals can be a cheaper than booking far in advance. Sometimes New Year can be overrated as people worry too much about having a good time, so why not make something special of it this year in one of the following locations…

Ascot

You could organise the ultimate girlie weekend and treat yourself to a spa break in the affluent area of Ascot. Why not team this with a horse racing event so that you and the girls have the perfect excuse to look for dresses for the winter races and get glammed up to the nines! Berkshire is a gorgeous location for a winter weekend away – it’s the perfect backdrop for living the life of leisure whilst catching up with long-lost friends

Edinburgh

Hogmanay is an exceptionally good party and a great way to spend New Year! Thousands of visitors and residents alike flock to the streets of Edinburgh to celebrate the new year in style – all the way through the night. The party has been known to go on until the 2nd January though so you’ll need plenty of stamina (and a thick coat!). Edinburgh is well worth a visit at this time of year as Hogmanay festival is in full swing. Previous acts have included Mark Ronson, Bombay Bicycle Club and Primal Scream.

London

There’s nothing quite like a weekend away in our capital. It’s even better on New Year’s Eve mainly because of the sheer variety and amount of celebrations that take place at the same time. Head over to Trafalgar Square for possibly one of the biggest and best celebrations all year. Other people gravitate towards the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.

Do you have any other favourite gems or hidden haunts that make for a great NYE location?
